Though I have my own tbr piles overflowing , getting to review a book from authors and publishers boosts my morale as it’s like they acknowledge and appreciate my reviews.
I am very generous when it comes in giving ratings as a book is sweat and blood of many but it doesn’t imply that my reviews would be any less honest and biased as I do have a following however small and it’s unfair or wrong to misguide or lull anyone in buying a book unless and until it is a really GOOD book, it’s just that I prefer using gentle words if I don’t like anything about a book and usually it’s a rarity as I don’t accept or buy a book without reading the blurb and few sample pages of the book to understand if it interests me or not , Ofcourse if it’s an ARC i am more careful while picking it up as it’s a big disappointment to have a brand new book in front of you and not feeling like touching it because you don’t like it. That would be a Disaster 😏
I prefer physical copy ,but would read an ebook if and when I feel like. My eyes are sensitive and ebooks are a little irritating though there are times when ebooks works most for me like travelling or at night and when having kids around who are hell bent in tearing a book into half😉. The genres I usually prefer are
- Short stories ..I love it.
- Psychology ( Social/ Motivational /Developmental Psychology)
- Literary Fiction
- Young adult fiction
- Fantasy
- Magical Realism
- Historical Fiction
- Science Fiction.
- Non-fiction
- Parenting.
- Self – help or motivational.
- Religious /spiritual fiction
- Romance or specifically contemporary romance.
- Mystery and suspense but not novels that are gory. Agatha Christie is one such author I prefer in this genre.
- Children’s book.
- Business and Personal Finance
- Ethics
- Success, Management ,Interpersonal Relations.
I will absolutely not accept review copies for chick-lits, erotica, horror, paranormal or dark. There are manyyyy genres out there that I have not tried yet , I may not be able to list it all so if the blurb and language appeals to me i will go for it. So feel free to get in touch anyway.
My ratings are 1-5 . There are few websites having a ratings of their own please specify in that case. It’s very very important to specify the tentative date till you want the book to be reviewed or I will keep accepting copies from others thinking I have enough time.
Asking book reviewers to write a positive review is kind of unfair . Please don’t keep such demands . I don’t review a book unless and until I am absolutely sure about it, if I am feeling negative about a book I refer the book twice, thrice to make sure if my dislike is justified and a book deserves a chance, I will specify it in my review if I liked it in first read or it took more than that . Hurting people’s emotions in the name of constructive criticism and without any solid reason is something I can’t do. It’s just isn’t me!!
My Reviews will be Empathetic ,honest and unbiased with my own personal touch . There are no fixed length of my reviews though I am more expressive while writing short reviews, I do write a long one when I absolutely enjoy and want to speak more about it other than the book but related to the subject it deals with, it’s more intuitive for me . So do Specify if you want reviews in specific word length.
I am grateful to writersmelon for giving me my first review copy “When Love Happens” by Manish Kumar. Few weeks later ,I received my first book mail from Harper Collins again through writersmelon book review program and I was over the moon. Another milestone was when an author got in touch to review his short story. Pure Bliss I say !! Like any book blogger I look forward to happy book mails knocking my door .
