“I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset

A very colorful and bright catchy cover that goes well with the title. The titular Hope and Sunshine has much more significance and meaning in the plot which is only revealed later in the course of narration and probably the best in the book.

Its a woman centric novel where the story revolves around Naina Grover, a highly successful marketing professional and an independent woman staying alone and working in kolkatta. Her Maasi and cousin arjun are her only guardians in kolkatta while her parents remain in delhi.

The book focusses mainly on relationships and family.

The author takes us through the life of Naina right from the time she sleeps, eats, gets up and goes to work…to the time she returns home, the many accolades or appreciation she gets in workplace, the way she’s pampered by her family who are super protective towards her and everything seems good except her relationship with Ved. They love each other but issues crops up now and then. This leads to confusion, hurt, mood swings. but along all this she develops a new friendship with Aditya her HR head and her cousin Arjun’s bestie. The three of them get so close that they hang out together almost every day. Naina’s past with her family is another issue that bothers her. The story at the end is the way her relationship shapes up be it her love life, work life or family life.

Quite a lot of things were relatable like…..

I loved the friendship quotient of Naina, Arjun and Aditya, their fun get together’s made me yearn for such friendship, the sibling fights of Naina and Arjun was cute and Arjun’s protectiveness towards his sister ….to name a few.

The Character Naina can make any girl envy for all the love she gets from her family. I loved the fact that despite being from a rich family she chooses to make her own career staying alone and away from her parents.

The only drawback i found was the prose and the overtly mention of kolkatta everywhere, i skimmed read those parts as it sort of disturbed the flow and overshadowed the plot. Though the book did unravel many new facts about the city of joy.

Naina and Ved’s relationship part went on and on, it was stretching a way bit more than i expected. I didn’t quite understand the chit stuff and the events that follows it.

Its a normal story dealing with issues in a girl’s life. The narration could have been better in the first half but there were few lines in the second half that was touching.

Overall the book did stir emotions in me at times and that’s what matters.

Seeing that its a work of a debut author is great.

Book Review :

Watching you is a teenage adult thriller. The two main protagonist are Reil and Viola.

Reil is a brainy handsome boy who every girl has a crush on and Viola is an attractive blue eyed beauty with brains.

The narration starts with the anonymous stalker. The opening keeps you glued right from the beginning.

Viola is an eighteen year old coming from THAT family who gets admission into Ponce de Leon Academy in full scholarship, a highly prestigious private academy located in the Florida Keys. An academy which is highly reputed and capable of getting students directly into MIT, MIT is Viola’s ticket to freedom from poverty and she works really hard for it. She just want to get her family out of the mess to a bright future.
but she gets the scholarship through deceit and lies and she lives in constant fear that she may lose her scholarship and lose the only opportunity to turn her life around.

Reil, the male lead, A senior in the academy is also the contender for the prestigious once a year scholarship. While earning and studying he is also raising his kid sister single handedly. But he loses his scholarship to viola and struggles to pay the enormous fees.

The plot mainly revolves around Viola, Reil and his Sis mar. Their love and support for each other throughout the plot is very touching.

But there is something really weird going on around viola, someone is stalking her or is she feeling it?.. she is getting anonymous call and having queer dreams. Her past relationships haunt her. One of the girl she knows has just been raped and murdered and this scares the hell out of her.
The Story is a suspense thriller surrounding two wonderful mature characters.

i loved Reil for all that he is!.. The plot was intriguing and thrilling and will keep you hooked. Reil and Viola are very inspiring teenagers. Their struggles and achievements is motivating. Quotes in the book are worthy to be noted down.

I judge a book by how much it is hard to put down and i did finish this book in a few days because i was completely hooked.

Author Interview

How did you do research for your book?

I didn’t have to do much research on my book aside from using my own experiences with my son.

Which was the hardest character to write? The easiest?

It was easy writing about the little boy in my book because it was based on the reality of my five year old.

In your book you make a reference to….how did you come up with this idea?

In my book I make reference to dreaming big and working hard because it essential that we plant seeds early on and instill in children that all things are possible with hard work and perseverance. I know this to be true firsthand.

What made you write a book about…?

This story was something I wrote to go along with a picture my son drew and it blossomed into this book. I wanted my son to read a book that he could identify with and I wanted the message to be inspiring for him and all children around the world.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

I get inspiration from my son, my students, and all children I interact with. I also have a vivid imagination that I like to play around with in my writing.
